“It is the message, not the man, which is important to the Sufis.” - Idries Shah Religion has been a part of the socio-political sphere for humans since time immemorial, there have been many religions which have been an important part of human history but the one that we are gonna discuss is Islam and that too it’s mystical dimension which is termed as Sufism. Origination of Islam dates back to the 7th century, making it the youngest of the major world religions. Islam started in Mecca, in modern-day Saudi Arabia.  As other things spread and evolve and so did Islam. It spread from modern day Saudi Arabia to various parts of the world and in the process of spreading it also evolved to a certain extent taking other forms and hence originated Sufism.The first mystics in Islam were Zuhhād and bakkā’ūn , who as men where so terrified of the sinfulness of the flesh that they practiced austerities in there severest form.
